Product Description
Seventh in the hilarious New York Times bestselling series featuring Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor now with a hot new look.

The series New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan calls DELIGH TFUL, Wicked Fun is looking hotter than ever

No one does humorous romantic fantasy better than the incomparable MaryJanice Davidson (The Best Reviews), and nobody reigns over the undead with more savvy than her heroine Betsy Taylor, back to rule the nights as Vampire Queen and survive the days as a new suburban bride. But it s not all marital bliss. Betsy s husband, Sinclair, has been perusing The Book of the Dead, Betsy s being hounded by a ghost who s even more insufferable in death than in life, and a pack of formerly feral vampires has decided to pay an unwelcome visit

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing and definitely UNWORTHY of my money...   December 28, 2008
L. Burch (Maryland)
Being a big fan of Ms. Davidson and the Undead novels, I must admit that it pains me to write such a bad review of her latest book, Undead and Unworthy. But, alas, I can not tell a lie - or write a book review that isn't, in my opinion, the truth.

After reading the first six novels from the Undead series, I couldn't wait until the next book was released. I pre-ordered Undead and Unworthy, and was ecstatic when it arrived. I couldn't wait to see what adventure awaited ditzy but lovable Betsy and her super hot, uber sexy husband Sinclair. When I finished Undead and Unworthy, I was still trying to figure out what adventure awaited them! I was left feeling confused and unsatisfied - I even found myself double checking the author's spelling of her name, because I was so sure this wasn't the same author who wrote the other six books. I was convinced that it couldn't be the same MaryJanice Davidson who wrote such witty, clever, funny, page turning novels with steamy vampire sex scenes and actual plot lines! This book lacked all of the above, and then some. Even the sex scenes were a joke - basically "fade to black" moments. I found myself turning the pages not because I was so engrossed in the book, but because I was waiting for something interesting to happen.

I don't want to let any spoilers out, so I'll leave my review broad and without specific examples but take my advice, don't waste your money on this book - check it out from the library. That way, when you're disappointed, you're not out any money, and since you don't own it, you can somewhat pretend it never was written. It would be a shame to put this mess of a book next to the other six really good books in the Undead series.

1 out of 5 stars This one ruins the series   December 13, 2008

I read MJD to have a good time NOT to be bummed out by the ending. I do not mind if an author wants to make her books darker and show character development but I thought that this book completely changed the tone of the entire series. It was not nearly as funny and the ending was depressing. The plot line was implausible, it just did not make sense that the fiends wanted to kill Betsy because she had not gotten around to dealing with them sooner. Also, most people reading the seventh book of a series do not need the constant recaps of all the previous books.

Detective Nick was really annoying. I was constantly rolling my eyes and saying get over it and was actually kind of glad when he broke up with Jessica. The way she portrayed Garrett in this book did not fit with the way she had developed him in the previous books of the series and the novella A Fiend in Need. Further, I absolutely HATED the ending. Since other reviews have already mentioned what happened, I actually really liked the two characters MJD killed off and thought their deaths were completely unnecessary. It ruined the series for me.

1 out of 5 stars So upset by this book   December 13, 2008

MJD kept everyone in suspense when she changed the book covers and said there were going to be some transitions. I was so disappointed. If by transitions she meant cutting any interesting parts from the book and characters that make you want to put the book down then she was right on. I hated this book and as a loyal reader of the series it seriously made me want to abandon the whole series. At this point I think MJD has no real ideas and is just milking it for the money. Skip this book unless you like wasting time.

The author was also really cocky and said the reason she changed the book cover was because everyone else copied her.

1 out of 5 stars Sucky Book! Don't do it!   December 9, 2008

This book sucked! If you read MaryJanice Davidson because you like her style, then do not buy this book! You will be soo disappointed. It totally deviates from the vibe of the other books in the series, and if it continues on this track she will definitely lose me as a reader!

3 out of 5 stars Repetitive... And redundant...   December 3, 2008

I'm a big fan of the Vampire Queen series. And I also understand that with any series, the author must reiterate certain key facts from previous installments in order to entice readers to read earlier books if they haven't already. That being said, I felt like the majority of this seventh Betsy Taylor novel was recap. There wasn't a very compelling storyline at the heart of this novel and Ms. Davidson even went so far as to recap her recaps, both at the start of the story and then in later chapters. "Too much of a good thing..."

The author's foreword did note that this installment begins a new story arc for Betsy and her various sidekicks. And I do feel like there's a lot of potential to propel this series foreword. But, I sincerely hope that the individual episodes in each novel take precedence going forward. Otherwise, I might find that I "stake" this series and look elsewhere for my vampiric entertainment.
