The 12 and 18-ounce containers are designed specifically for kids. In bottles designed for small hands, the 12 and 18 ounce bottles are available with sippy cup lid adapters along with the other sports cap options, and weigh just 6 and 8 ounces respectively. Adult sized 27 and 40 ounce Kanteens weigh just 8 and 11 ounces respectively, and are available with a choice polypropylene or steel caps. The openings are large enough to fit ice cubes, and the slim bottle design fits in most cup and bottle holders. Klean Kanteen water bottles are available with a variety of sports caps made with non-leaching polypropylene #5 or stainless steel. The sport, flat, and loop caps are interchangeable and fit all 12-, 18-, 27-, and 40-ounce stainless steel bottles securely. The Poly Sports Cap has a push release valve allowing you to drink on the go. The Flat Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel twist on and off securely. Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory. Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?

Klean Kanteen Knocks Out Nalgene and SIGG - ignore negative reviews October 7, 2008

Just a short review. I use a reusable water bottle literally everyday in my workplace. I typically go through 30-60oz. of water per work day. I've used both Nalgene and SIGG for extended periods. Summed up the Klean Kanteen is superior in various ways:
- 304 Stainless Steel:clean, durable, inert, sanitary, toxin-free, etc....I'm getting ABSOLUTELY no off-taste from these even after 2 days of sitting water (I often refill at the end of the day and may not necessairly finish the water for a day and a half). Water keeps a fresh taste period!
- Durable. Obviously not going to be as dent free as polycarbonate, but the plusses outweigh that. It will NOT dent easily as others have intimated.
- WIDE opening. Not too wide to drink from at all, perfect really. How many narrow SIGG style drinking glasses do you have in your house, hmmm? None! Nice rolled lip. BONUS: Waaay easier to fill than a SIGG.
- Lids work perfectly. It's a lid, anybody who gripes about it is nuts. It seals easily and well.
- Unlike SIGG, these are not coated with a "secret" proprietary coating on the inside. Furthermore, do you really want to drink day after day out of aluminum and trust that coating to keep you safe?
- Unlike Nalgene; Nalgene bottles are great but they are only good for short periods as they most certainly impart staleness to water quickly. Also, unless you're using one of the newer BPH free bottles, do you want yet another chance at nasty molecules in your body?

The steel water bottle is everything I was told it would be. It works just as well as I had expected it to function. So far, I haven't had any experiences of bad or metallic tasting water. The only problem I have with the bottle is the expensive cost of the bottle. I think they could sell them for less money and do us all a favor.

This bottle does its job well. It holds juice and coffee without keeping any odors. When the coffee sticks to the bottle, just rinse with vinegar.

Love the fact that it holds a whopping 27oz and still has a width that allows it to fit into a cup holder sized area (ie bike cup holder, yoga gym bag pocket). Have the poly sports cap and it seems durable and yet gives me enough water as I'm drinking that I don't feel like I'm using working hard to get enough water when I'm very thirsty.
