Amazon.com Review A longtime front runner in graphics and playability, EA Sports has tweaked NBA Live 2000's simulation mode and artificial intelligence to create a solid, all-around roundball experience. The biggest new addition to this year's version, however, is undoubtedly the presence of Michael Jordan. Absent from NBA Live predecessors, the greatest player in NBA history makes an appearance in NBA Live 2000's "One-on-One" mode where the player challenges the legends of the NBA on an outdoor court. The new Franchise Mode adds welcome simulation depth to NBA Live 2000's quick arcade gameplay. Players assume control of a NBA team and guide them through 25 seasons; juggling rosters, scouting the draft, and number-crunching the salary cap are all requirements of the aspiring NBA general manager. Like previous versions, all NBA teams are included and rosters are updated for the 99/00 season. Furthermore, users can create their own players for the game and even scan in their own likeness with the "Face in the Game" feature. Once again, EA Sports succeeds in creating a visually stunning basketball game with exciting, intuitive gameplay. NBA Live 2000's numerous features (including three-point shootouts and Internet multiplayer) and improved realism guarantee hours of hoop enjoyment. --Doug Radcliffe
Amazon.com Product Description One of the newest additions to EA's sports lineup, NBA 2000 features more action, more slamming, and more attitude. Broadcast-style camera technology brings you to the heart of the action. Next-generation facial animation with added speech links gives the players more personality and attitude. You can go five-on-five or one-on-one on the street court, with the greatest names in the NBA, past and present, as NBA Live exclusively brings you retired names in the NBA, including the greatest all-time player, Michael Jordan. Play with one of five All-Star teams from the past decade or create your own classic matchups. Using EA's Get in the Game technology, you can put yourself and your friends in the game or go head-to-head against NBA stars and play against your favorite teams. EA even provides a forum for NBA Live 2000 fans to chat and share inside tips on its Web site.

A Bargain! November 22, 2001 Aaron At 15 bucks, this game is a total bargain. I'm not quite sure how EA sports manages to make their games WORSE from year to year, but that is exactly what they did with the NBA Live series.NBA 2000 is much better than it's 2001 2002 counterparts. It's a very realistic basketball simulation. My only gripe with it, is that the defense is a little TOO tight. Even with a quick PG, you'll have a very hard time getting penetration on anyone guarding you up close.(in real basketball, it's the other way around).
Mad in Milwaukee July 4, 2001 The game is cool, but buyer beware: The version i got has more bugs than the state department.

I am not a diehard fan of basketball but nevertheless I found this game very enjoyable. I love playing one on one with Michael Jordan. I found it very difficult to win at first especially when you take on a bigger player like Shaquile O'Neal. I also love the three point shootout which is very easy so would be good for beginners. I started playing exhibition matches on the skill level of rookie but I was winning easily so I upped the skill level to pro and thats about the right level for me and most people. There is also a season mode as well as a playoff mode. You are competing for the top honour in NBA, the nba championship. The other feature is the franchise mode which means you pick a team and draft players to the team. You have to get as many of the real star players at the start of the draft because by the end your left with the duds. I loved playing in this mode and seeing how my created team matches up against other created teams. There is also multiplayer where you can play a friend over the modem or join an online league. There is also extra features like create a player and inport your face which I havn't tried but i'm very keen to. I think the best part of NBA LIVE 2000 is it can be played and enjoyed by anyone. It's real easy for beginners and the excellent gameplay and graphics make the game seem real.
Takin' it to the Rack! November 7, 2000 D. Galle (Tweed Heads, NSW Australia) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Yet again a near-flawless effort from EA SPORTS. The return of MJ makes this game worthwhile in itself. One question - where's Kareem? The graphics are superb, the AI much improved, the gameplay enthralling and the only detraction is the in-game comments get a bit boring. All-in-all a great game, one recommendation is to get a joystick or game-pad to play this...it really helps.
Impressive graphics and playability, action slow at times. September 26, 2000 Rick Douglas Janssen (Lake Zurich, IL USA) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I had spent much time playing NBA Live 98 and was ready to upgrade. I decided to purchase NBA Live 2000 and give it a shot. The basic play style is very similar to the previous NBA Live products. The one item that is truely worth buying the game for is the import face feature. This allows you not only to create yourself by setting your height, weight, and abilities (slightly modified for the game, of course), but also allows you to import a photograph of yourself. By mapping out key features on your photograph the computer can then incorporate your features (e.g. eye shape, mouth shape, eyebrows, skin tone) into your computer image. I found it best to take a picture from staight on and have a plain expression (e.g. no smiling). My first attempt was with my driver's license photo (in which I'm smiling) and it didn't map well. I had a friend take my picture this time with no expression and it mapped so much better. It's very cool to see my face on the player in the instant replays! THe only drawback I noticed with this game is that sometimes the actions gets very slow. It takes forever to shoot free throws. Also, if you have the detail setting too high the video sometimes gets choppy. I turned down the video settings and it kept right up. If you enjoyed the previous versions of NBA Live I would highly recommend upgrading to this version. If you've never played NBA Live before, but are interested in a basketball game, this is an excellent place to start.
