Simply Brilliant in So Many Ways! July 20, 2007 Big Boss Games (Phoenix, AZ USA) Reviewed for Big Boss Games by: PK The Green Usually when I spend $20 for a game it's used, greatest hits, or horrid. This one is none of the aforementioned. ESPN NBA Basketball 2K5 by Take 2 Interactive is brilliant in many ways. First off, I was amazed to see they allowed me to create my own shoes. A sign of a true Superstar is their very own signature kicks. The presentation lives up to the ESPN tagged to the name. Various ESPN personalities supply pre-game and post-game reports, as well as sideline reports. Bill Walton comes up with the half-time report showing replays of the best plays. Ah, and now for the gameplay. A hop-step button has been added for another dimension in storming the hoop. Also, rebounding is more in your control, no more tapping the button and hoping you'll get it. My only complaint is that with all of the beautifully rendered character models, your created character doesn't look up to par. The cheerleaders also look like they're straight out of a Gumby cartoon. With the same great gameplay from last year, and new things added, for a price of $20, sports fans gotta have it.
boooring after winning twice. October 28, 2006 Yong Lo (IL, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
here we go. first game. woohoo bought a game for 20 bucks. and guess what? its very very exciting. i started out as the kings playing the pacers in an 8-minute per quarter game. it was wonderful. very challenging, the game was realistic, graphics that were pretty good, and i loved the game. i didn't even win! 84-82 indiana on a last second three pointer in conseco (note, i would have won, except for something i'll say later). now, i do that again tomorrow. its great once again. but then the next day im getting bored. all the dunks look alike. even the alley-oop is the same. the commentary is so old i want to mute the tv. and then, i start a franchise. gets fun, but ends up bad after a while. 24/7? pshhh i could only do that in summer. and then, the unlockables are even stupid. why would i want to play to get a yao ming bobblehead? and now i shall tell you the horrible, horrible things that made this game bad. 1) repitition, repitition. why do the same things happen each time? dunks, only two different kinds it seemed. alley-oops, they stunk. and the commentary....wait that needs its own line. 2)the commentary. here-with 7 minutes left in the third quarter minnesota is leading charlotte 65-44. im charlotte. somehow, i get back and cut the lead to 95-91 by four minutes in the fourth quarter. i end up losing 102-99, but the postgame analysis is this. "...and the minnesota timberwolves have beaten the charlotte bobcats in a game that was NEVER REALLY CLOSE. yeah, i agree, it was a COMPLETE BLOWOUT." wrong commentary, and sounds dumb. 3)franchise-more focus on trades than games. MY ADVICE FOR THE ASSOCIATION-PUT ON THE TRADE DEADLINE. otherwise, a star on a cpu team will be traded 4 times a year. heres wat i mean, by year two, tim duncan on the spurs had been on boston, philadelphia, seattle, denver, orlando, and back to boston. this ruins the parity of the sport becuase all players are traded at least twice a year. unless they play for you. 4)free throws-heres why i lost that game. the free throws in this game are horrible. you have to connect two lines and make sure a little red ball gets between them. i hate this system. my last words: if you really want to have fun, buy an nba live game. rather get that than this, even for the price.
Why can't I play the finals???? January 28, 2006 Nicholas Rog (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this game! But, and this is a big but...I recently made it to the Finals in my "Association" mode and for some reason, cannot play the Finals. The game just does nothing when I click on "play game" Has anyone else had this problem???????? This is very frustrating and unless it is just my game, would make this not worth the purchase!!! 1 star for this game, until I fix this!!!!!!!!!!!
ESPN gets my vote! October 6, 2005 grits and eggs again? (Alabama) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own ESPN NFL 2K5 and did own NHL 2K4. NFL was and is the best out there. Or at least until EA kidnapped the NFL. But NHL was crap. Better luck next time boys. Back to NBA 2K5, I got this at eb for $9.00. Cant pass that up. The game play is pretty sweet. Camera angles suck somewhat. A little tweeking of the game options and it can be a good challenge. I like the fact that the a.i. does play catch up and tries to keep the game close. I hate wining everytime. It gets old. I like rematches. Anyway, go get it for the replay value. At 9 or even 12 dollars its money well spent.
way worth 20$ June 24, 2005 wassup dawg (nyc) its a great game for 20$. I like nba live 2005 better but this is still a great game. I think for 20$ that we are rippin the producers off!!
