NBA07 is a great game the mini games are awsome and its just plain fun. as i also own NBA 2k7 and its better but NBa 07 isnt 100% basketball 2k7 just doens have the full package and online games make you crave for more. i was tied in the forth quarted with one guy with 30 seconds to go my palms were sweaty and i was sweatin i felt like it was so real and i had a perfect ecored so thanks to the shot meter when i stalled with the ball in the last 7 seconds and popped a 3 with NASH in the last 2 seconds my oppenent wasnt happy to se the ball go *SWISH* as the buzzer went off

2 out of 5 stars Horrible   May 18, 2007

This game is pathetic, way to easy and the Season mode is a Huge JOKE, im sad that Kobe had to endorse this game. No game now a days should have a season mode where you can't continue into year 2, and so on.

Pros
- Good graphics
- One of few games to support 1080p
- Mini Games are fun especially the shoot out

Cons
- AI is horrible. You can have 3 defenders in the lane when a defender gets burned and they just stand there and watch as the opponent goes in for a slam
- Shot meter needs to be tweeked
- Passing needs work. You can pull your controller up to the left and hit the pass button trying to get the ball to a wide open teammate and it will pass it to a guy behind you to the right.
- Too many slam dunks, had 12 dunks in a row in one game
- Limited number of set plays (4 on offense and 3 on defense)
- No defensive controls expect poke at the ball which 90% of the time just gets a foul called on you
- Season mode is a joke as well

Overall
- One of the worse sports games Ive played in a long time, its a sham that this game was released in the state it is in.

4 out of 5 stars Buy NBA07 if you want high-scoring fun, 2K7 if you want depth and realism   March 12, 2007

Having bought both NBA 07 and 2K7, I preferred the former. In many ways 2K7 may be the better basketball game, but I just didn't find it to be as much fun (which is why I sold it).

Pros:

- If you are looking for a faster action, offense oriented game....this is the one to buy.

- The graphics look very good; i'm not sure where the negative reviews are coming from on this one. Granted, I've not played the game on HDTV...but it looks great even in standard def. Both 2K7 and NBA07 were good here, but I think NBA07 wins out here.

- The gameplay is solid when you get used to it, and personally I actually like the bar that comes up for shooting.

- The mini-games are fun, especially shooting around for the most points with a group of friends.

- The online options and downloads are good, though admittedly I use them alot less than just playing the season mode.

- I really hated the gimmicky way that 2K7 used the motion sensor to shoot free throws. The motion sensor might be a really great technology for some games (it works very well in Flow, for instance), but was tacked on in 2K7 and didn't work for me.

Cons:

- Isn't as deep as 2K7. There is a season mode, but no franchise/dynasty mode. This isn't a big deal for me, as 82 games in a season is a ton to get through anyway.

- You can only have one season saved at once, so far as I can tell.

- The defensive AI is *much* weaker than 2K7. Really, it is a joke at times. Unless you want to play center and hope to snag rebounds, playing a person at anywhere other than near the basket is a sure way to give up easy points. For me this isn't a big deal because I like an offensive oriented game, but if you want a more realistic game, get 2K7.

- It takes a little adjusting to the game, especially on defense.

1 out of 5 stars Ridiculously easy. Smooth-looking, but clunky graphics...   March 8, 2007

This game is pretty much the worst game I've ever played. I'm really not trying to be melodramatic, I just think it's important to be honest. I played some older basketball games on Sega Genesis, and actually enjoyed them. I even played a couple ps2 games with a friend, and they were alright. But this thing was insanely easy. I 'mastered' it after about six hours. Cranked it up to max difficulty and STILL managed to post 130 points with Ray Allen in consecutive games. As said elsewhere in the thread, there is nothing resembling defense in this game, as the glorious dunk is unstoppable. Also, the franchise mode (or whatever it was called) is silly. There's no 'fair trades' option, and there's not even a good salary system or anything remotely deep about it. You could trade your 40-50pt players for 90pt players without the other team batting an eye.

Still, the graphics are pretty smooth looking, but I didn't like the motion engine for the cut-scenes. Everything was moving like it was made of blocks.

I'm totally willing to admit that I may have an untoward bias, but this game was really quite awful. I was shocked when I was able to trade it in for $35.
