For example, central defenders can learn to hold onto possession and wingers can be trained to cut inside and bypass the full backs. And for the first time, you can even play as a female manager and become the first woman to lead your favorite team to domestic and European glory. Not as flashy as FIFA but it gets the job done. October 29, 2009 L. Frett (Philadelphia, PA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, this game is awesome. It's quite detailed in terms of playability and decision-making, allowing you a hands on approach to almost every conceivable management decision including minimal day to day team adjustments, with realistic transfer scenarios (i.e. if you coach for Real Madrid you cannot sign Aguero no matter what you offer) and even manager interactions I am now great friends with Wenger and Benitez. Make sure to get the latest patch and it will run smoothly, with minimal to no issues (I use a mac). It also has a very detailed player database, you'd be hard pressed to want to sign a player that isn't in the game. However, if aesthetics are really important to you, this might not be your game. Compared to FIFA it severely lacks sponsorship (sorry Premier League fans), player photographs, stadium details and does not have some of the other eye catching visual details which FIFA has become so good at providing. That being said the game engine is good and in terms of playability and detailed decision-making this is as good as it gets. Be careful though you will become addicted.
WSM 2009 October 1, 2009 Larry Hoffman (Paso Robles, CA) WSM 2009 is a fascinating simulation of managing a professional soccer team. As manager it seems you have many of the same decisions to make as do the real managers. Dealing with the board, choosing the players who will play, deciding on formations and making tactical decisions, and answering questions at the press briefings before and after the match (and your responses can affect the morale of players on your team). All this and much more is included in WSM. It's not an easy simulation to master. It has a fairly steep learning curve - in five matches at the English League Two level I've had 2 draws and 3 losses. But I now watch soccer matches on TV with a very different perspective.
There are a few things I think could be improved. It can be difficult learning to find your way between different screen displays. The team's financial information is very sparse. And the player's manual is set in type so small it looks like the small print on an insurance form. And WSM is somewhat addicting. Like with any good game, once you begin a playing session it's difficult to stop. Unless, of course, the opposing team has just scored the winning goal in the last 30 seconds of injury time.
it is really good September 9, 2009 Abdulaziz N. Alajmi (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful

Bad!! April 21, 2009 Deep Trivedi (Indian in Chicago) 0 out of 13 found this review helpful
I got this game today, and I played a match. I was waiting for the match to get over so that I can quit the game and send it back to Amazon.
The game is not good
I looked at the formations and I had a hard time to place the players where I exactly wanted. If you are used to playing FIFA 09 (not fifa manager)... u know that u can make your players move even an inch here and there. In this game you cant, there are fixed positions that you can place your players in. Therefore, I couldn't place the players where I wanted in the first place.
Also, some pple have said AI engine is good. Well, I don't think so. In fact there were times I was wondering what are these players doing?
I remember one occasion. the ball was in the opponents penalty box and the opponent's defender was closer to the ball than my Striker. The defender ran towards the ball and for some reason he started running backwards (the goalkeeper didn't move towards the ball either so there were no signs of confusion between their players), the defender could have easily cleared the ball or retreived possession, instead my striker got the ball and scored the goal.
I don't remember other occasion in detail but the incident mentioned above happened a few times, where the player close to the ball simply didn't charge for the ball.
Also, the physics of the game is terrible. Sometimes the players just act like a wall, for example, If a player is unintentionally hit by the ball, the ball simple rebounds in a very weird manner. The crosses being made don't seem realistic either. It is like, there is not air.
Graphics. The last Fifa manager game I played was Fifa Manager 06 or 07. Trust me, Fifa Manager 06/07 had much better graphics than this game. Unfortunately I cannot describe you what it looks like, but you may search for videos on this game on YOUTUBE. It is not pleasing.
Also, you aren't really watching the whole match. Example, My team scored a goal and the match didnt restart from the center. Instead the opponents had the ball in my half and they were supposed to throw in. It just broke the continuity of the game. For a second I thought I was only watching highlights
Overall I am really disappointed by this game. I have not played Fifa Manager 09 so I cannot compare the two. But, this game is a disappointment.
I played 1 game. I won the (away) match 5 - 1
Awesome Game - found a bug though! March 16, 2009 Sunil Prabhu (san jose, ca, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been playing this series for the last 10 years and its definitely the most addictive game ever! The AI engine is the best ever. This is not for those who prefer graphics over game simulation.
Bug: I've been playing the WSM 2009 this last week and the game starts hanging with "Array Index out of Bounds" when I switch to TV view. This has happened about 2 times today and its really frustrating to play a few games all over again. I have rated it 3 stars till they get this fixed.
