5 out of 5 stars Where was this when I was a kid.....   October 27, 2008
Morley Dotes (Flushing, New York USA)
I just got this for my son for his fifth birthday. He's 47 inches tall, and his size is fine, and he does have room to grow. We used it right out of the box. All you have to do is attach the handle bars (tools included) and that took about 2 minutes. The battery had a charge so my son started to ride it. He loves it. At first I was worried, and kept my hand on the throttle and jogged next to him and found that I could easily keep up, and I'm no sprinter. After I was a bit more confident with his ability, I let him on his own.....somewhat.....I trailed behind where there is a bar that you can hold. This quad doesn't have enough torque to pull you, at least not on the grass (I didn't try it on a drive way). Just lift the back and the rear wheels spin along, but since this is not four wheel drive, it's pretty easy to control. As for previous posts regards battery trouble, we had no trouble out of the box, and my son rode for almost an hour and did not kill the battery. The construction looks really good. Throttle response is surprisingly good and with practice my son was able to modulate the speed fairly easily. This quad is in a class all its own. Not only is it built tough, as well as have a nice little shock suspension, but what really makes this superior are the tires. They are not hard plastic, but rather rubber, air filled (pneumatic I believe they are called). They have incredible grip, even on wet grass going uphill. The only thing I don't like about this is the weight limit of 120 pounds, because it means I can't ride it! My son never came close to rolling this vehicle, which was a real worry at first. I should note that my son still uses training wheels on his two-wheeler, and he's tipped that over several times. Pads are a must, and you have to be careful because even though this isn't that fast, it accelerates quickly, so watch for that. Front and rear bumpers/guards are also nice.

Please remember that this is NOT four wheel drive. Also, the brake is good, but may need a bit of adjustment. If you have a question, leave me a comment and I will answer the best I can.....oh, and as others have already mentioned, do not let the battery be exposed to freezing temperatures, there were several warnings for that. I don't know what a second battery costs or how easy it would be to change it, but I am going to try to find out, because it would be great to have one as back-up.....now if they could make one for us 200 pounders! ;-)

4 out of 5 stars Razor Quad   October 21, 2008

Purchased for 6 yo birthday. He and his 4 yo brother love it to death. The brake is kinda big for their little hands, but it works.

Had the PP Gator truck and this is so much better. Based on their current usage I have to charge it 4 days a weeks. We get about 50 minutes out of it per time.

4 out of 5 stars Great chasis for my next project   September 25, 2008

Smaller than I envisioned.
Good construction

Charged and worked well,

Now to deconstruct to become chasis for my next outdoor robot for DPRG.

4 out of 5 stars Best money spent for a gift for my kid!   September 22, 2008
Sharon Buechel (Shelton, WA United States)
My son is the coolest kid on the block with this thing! It must get at least 5 hours of solid use per week, and we have had it for 10 months now! We have not experienced problems with the charge that the others have. If you turn it off and charge it, it will run for at least 40 minutes! When we go on our camping/quadding trips, my 5 year old doesn't feel left out! All the neighbors ask where we got it. I wish they sold one just one step up from this one b/c he is ready to go just a little faster. It is great practice for him and he has great hand eye coordination. I love the fact that I can say "Go Play Outside" and he is excited about it. Much more entertaining than a video game! I want one for me! Wish they made them in moms size (though I have rode his around the yard a few times - makes the neighbors laugh).

Word to the wise - I wouldn't suggest taking it through puddles or playing in the snow with it for extended periods of time. It doesn't withstand the moisture too well.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointment   August 10, 2008
Karan Boles (Texas)
Ordered Razor ATV, and was sick with performance. Wouldn't run for more than 10 minutes. Then found that the 30 day return policy expired before grandkids returned from Guam and tried it out. Took to authorized repair facility, they said battery good (but I had called Razor who had said battery probably bad and sent new one.) Repair facilility claimed loose bolt was problem and that battery was ok. Took home, same results. Installed new battery (noticed on one of old batteries that someone had marked in red "bad"). Repair guy said Razor had received batch(es) of bad batteries, which they had to replace. Worked great for one week with new battery; same problem again. Now I'm stuck, have 14 more days on 90 day warranty, but must drive 55 miles each way to repair facility. Am I pleased with performance/service? No way. Would I buy Razor again? No way.
