NBA 2K2 is the start of a new bball dynasty February 24, 2002 MG This game is excellent and superb, and although not a perfect simulation of basketball, it's the closest thing to it so far. First of all, excellent shooting controls. If you want to head fake, you will head fake rather than take an ill-advised shot. Second of all, good AI. Centers will have more rebounds and blocks, and guards will naturally have more assists and steals, unlike other games where the guard can have 20 rebounds and the center like 2. Third, good flexibility. Create a player lets you control many detailed aspects of the character, such as body frame and shooting skills. But there are also some flaws. The crossover function could have been better in that you can choose which move you want to do, thus adding more style without ruining the game. Also, the AI simply takes too many threes. The AI will exploit the advantages of an excellent three-point shooter and keep scoring unrelentlessly till you cry out in frustration. Plus, while create-a-player is detailed, it could've included more faces and let you create your own face or import the name of the created plaer via microphone. Last, the pass animations are still goofy, which the player tossing the ball to his teammate a foot way. Overall, this a very good game and you can't go wrong with this purchase. It is one of the last and best Dreamcast games out there.
Huge improvement over 2K1 February 19, 2002 ffootballguru27 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is by far the best Sega Sports game and a huge improvement over last year's game. Basketball is my game and Sega's NBA 2K2 is definitely the best basketball video game availible for any system. This game is plagued by only a few minor flaws unlike NBA 2K1. The gameplay is simply amzing. I like the idea of having a direct pass button on offense, and a button on defense to play defense like in real life shuffling your feet and all. Shooting is very easy and efffective especially if you release the ball at the top of your jump shot. The graphics are greaat although not as good as EA's NBA Live 2002. The players are easily identified to their NBA counterpart and Allen Iverson has his Iverson shoes unlike in 2k1 where everyone wore the same black or white shoes. The rosters are very up-to-date and if a trade happens don't worry about the game being out of date just go to customize to do the trade yourself. And when draft time comes around just create that player onto their new team. The Francchise mode is great. You egt to lead your team through multiple seasons with trades, free agency, and retirements. You can also choose to play with the teams NBA rosters or do a fantasy draft where you can have any NBA players. The announcing is great although repititive more times than not. When Iverson scores a lot they always say the same thing and are always saying the same thing usually twice a game, but they are still very realistic and actually seem to be watching the game unlike ither games announcers. The only thing about this game that could have been made a little betetr are the graphcis and the gameplay because when you post up you almsot always get a wide open layup or step out of bounds for no reason at all. Overall this is the best basketball agme availible for the Dreamcast right now. This game for the PS2 is also betetr than Live and is also availible on the XBOX.
Rock on Dude February 5, 2002 David Perkins (Westport, CT USA) This game is so sweet! The graphics are dudical, and the create a player scene lists so many details, not too much. This game is way far out than any other b-ball game, probaly sports. You can also customize your very own team, for example: panther, sonic the hedgehog with a basketball , shields and some rocketing down bird coming from the sky. You may play 2 on 2 3 on 3 4 on 4 or 5 on 5. Radical dunks from the inside key. If I were you i'd buy 10 of these! So buy it before they're out of stock!!
NBA 2k2 January 18, 2002 J. Rogers (Tigard, Or United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good Basketball Game. Seems as if Sega is going out with a bang as far as the final Dreamcast games.... (2k2)Slight burp/hiccup in game play but graphics are nice.... Background is the only difference when compared to the X-Box or PS2...
NBA 2K2 Is Great January 9, 2002 James (CA United States) I loved NBA 2K and now i love NBA 2K2. The combination of great gameplay and great graphics make a great all around game. The create a player mode is great and Franchise mode rules.
