I just bought the new Lego 2008 Castle Advent Calendar for my 4year old son. I absolutley LOVE this year's kit. I try to buy a new advent calendar every year for my son to help him count down the days until christmas. We've done pirate calendars, and dueling knights and they've all been big hits, but most required prep work on my part snapping together toys, stuffing them into boxes and putting the whole kit together.
So my absolute favorite thing about this kit is that it is ready to go right out of the box. There are 24 perforated windows and behind each window is a small wrapped prize. There are knights, a wizard, a scary looking snowman, a jester, swords, shields, way too many fun things to name!
It doesn't look like the box will mount to a wall or door, but it does stand alone on a table. The outer box has a flap that folds out to make a castle backdrop and display area for your prizes.
I read that this kit is not being released in the US this year, which is probably why it has such a high price tag. I searched all over the internet for this kit and you really won't find it for less than $35-40 right now. Then you have to be really careful that they don't tack on twice as much $$ for overseas shipping. Hopefully the price will come down more as it becomes more available locally.
