Amazon.com If you've never stopped to think about the individual physical components that make for a great NBA player, NBA Ultimate Player will prove an interesting and somewhat whimsical look at basketball's biggest stars. Each segment of the hourlong program selects a certain part of the body and uses interviews and often spectacular game footage to show which past and present players best epitomize excellence--for example, eyes that can see and analyze the court are the bread and butter of the best point guards, including John Stockton, Bob Cousy, and Magic Johnson, while the arms of Bill Russell, George Mikan, and Karl Malone provide defense and offense. The most unexpected category, mouth/hair, describes how a player can express his personality through trash talking or a certain hair style, e.g., Dennis Rodman. (Notably absent is Michael Jordan's wagging tongue.) The program doesn't always anoint one player as the best in a single category (though Larry Bird and Isiah Thomas get the nod for hands and feet, respectively), preferring instead to compare without judgment the nimble feet of Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin McHale, and Tim Duncan, or the athletic legs of Julius Erving, Grant Hill, and Vince Carter. And when it comes to heart, who could choose between Willis Reed's courageous performance in the 1970 finals and Jordan's unstoppable will to win? --David Horiuchi

Talking about music, would anybody be expert (and kind) enought to help me on that : what's the name of that GREAT Funk piece of music, kind of guitar, drum & piano stuff, playing when they are showing all those great shots and moves by George "Iceman" Gervin, Michael Jordan and Dr J ? it's between the 17'00" and 18'40" time in the documentary. thanks a lot to anybody who can help me. :p
NBA ULTIMATE DVD May 4, 2002 Shlomo Goland (Naharia, Israel) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
An exellent DVD, featuring all the great players of past and present, full of highlights interviews and exellent story line, describing each of an ultimate player's skill, like scoring, speed, mentality, etc. Exellent music to go with the story, and the final highlight featuring michael jordan could'nt be better (even thou I'm a Laker Fan), wich made me also order ultimate jordan eventualy.
Great for any nba fan May 23, 2001 2 out of 12 found this review helpful
This dvd is amazing, it allows you to see the legends of the nba at the peak of their career, as well as the young nba players trying to reach that legendary status.
