Product Description Business guru Verne Harnish's firm Gazelles has brought hundreds of businesses to fast-growth profitability. Now he shares entrepreneurial secrets in this must-read business primer. Harnish has discovered John D. Rockefeller's underlying strategy. Further study uncovered three winning habits: *Priorities: A few rules remain consistent with a firm's core values and long-term goal. Others change regularly -- what Harnish calls the Top 5 and Top 1 of 5. *Data: Key metrics should be measured over time (Smart Numbers); short-term metrics provide a tighter focus on an aspect of the business (Critical Numbers). *Rhythm: A well-organized set of meetings keep everyone aligned and accountable. In addition to case studies, a bonus chapter co-authored by Rich Russakoff reveals winning tactics to get banks in competition to finance your business venture. MASTERING THE ROCKEFELLER HABITS provides necessary tools for making strategically smart decisions and for keeping everyone aligned and accountable to those decisions.

Wow! Another corporate metaphor book! November 26, 2008 Elliott de Luca (Washington, DC) Every year it's the same thing... some new book which exists mainly to generate more income for those that already have entirely more than their share. This book and others like it have no real purpose or impact. Imagine... establishing short and long-term goals! Brilliant. But wait... they're not CALLED "goals." They're called "Rocks." And there's the "genius" of this publication. Attempting to teach book-smart executives common sense and how to get even MORE out of the "little people" so they can make even MORE money. Ha ha ha. On the backs of the workers... don't bother with this book. It's a joke. Here's the synopsis... make short and long-term goals, inform the entire firm OF these goals, have the entire FIRM make goals that are ALSO known to all. The End. Oh, but wait here's the true gem... schedule your incessant meetings... oh excuse me... "huddles" at times that AREN'T on the quarter hour. THAT way people will show up on time (e.g., 4:17pm, not 4:15pm). HA HA HA HA HA. BRILLIANT! Save your money...
It would help if I had received the book! September 28, 2008 T. Gross (Virginia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would love to review this book for you. However, I have still not received it even though I have been charged for it! Can you please help me either get my book or get a credit to my credit card? Thank you!
Yes...Read and Learn August 1, 2008 Steve Walrath As a university instructor and entrepreneur, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. The one page strategic plan is brilliant and very doable by anyone in just a few hours time. Simple and straightforward - that's what this book teaches and that's what you should do to succeed....so Read this one for sure.
Most important book around for going from $1million to $50million February 22, 2008 Mason Arnold (Austin, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bring organization to your organization. Hold people accountable for their work. These are some of the biggest problems I hear over and over from entrepreneurs who have emerged from the start-up phase and are trying to grow their business into a profitable machine. This book is an easy read and gives you all the tools you need. A must have for anyone looking to take their business beyond their garages.
Quick read -- good for fundamentals February 8, 2008 James Campbell I must say that the simpler management frameworks are the ones that stick with me. This book puts forth a few key management principles that are helpful for most companies.
