Amazon.com Not for Chicago White Sox fans only, this boxed set chronicles a World Series championship nearly a century in the making. The last time the White Sox won the World Series, in 1917, John F. Kennedy was born. Woodrow Wilson was president. Walt Disney graduated high school, and a first-class stamp was three cents. The drama, with its All-Star roster of heroes both sung (American League Champion Series MVP Paul Konerko, World Series MVP Jermaine Dye, and Cinderella story, closer Bobby Jenks) and unsung (Ken Williams, who, incredibly, was not named General Manager of the Year), unfolds over seven discs: The deciding game 3 of the American League Division Series against the 2004 champions, the Boston Red Sox; the deciding game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the improbably named Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim; and the four-game World Series sweep of the Houston Astros. The bonus disc will be of more parochial interest, with team interviews, a replay of the final three outs of the series, the White Sox's triumphant homecoming, and player speeches at the official city celebration (the highlight: Paul Konerko presents team owner Jerry Reinsdorf with the ball Konerko caught for the final out of the World Series). Each game is presented complete, with no commercials. Each game-disc slipcase sports box scores, team stats, game conditions, attendance, and trivia (number of foul balls in game 2 of the World Series: 55). Inside are complete inning-by-inning summaries, with scoring highlighted in red. Baseball purists can watch the games in real time (more than 18 hours in all!). The less patient can progress through inning chapters to such heroics as White Sox second baseman Geoff Blum's game-winning homer in the 14th inning of game 3 of the World Series, or shortstop Juan Uribe leaping into the stands to snag a foul ball for the second out in game 4. Though this set doesn't quite cover all the bases (all of the postseason games would have been nice), this Collector's Edition will thrill baseball fans with a sense of history. It will certainly make White Sox fans happy, but they'll be even more ecstatic if there's a sequel. --Donald Liebenson

Sox WS 2005 DVDs September 2, 2008 NifflerX (Chicago, IL United States) This product is just what it says, and if you're a White Sox fan it's one of the best things in the world. If not, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to watch good baseball where you know the outcome. It would have been nice to get a couple more games, but I understand the rational behind choosing the games they did. Being able to select the half-inning is also a really nice feature. Overall what you see is what you get, and if what you get is something you're interested in you'll love it.
Sox Pride! May 27, 2008 Shawnise R. Rogers (Phoenix) The set was very cool. Would have liked to have seen all the games they won, like I believe you get with the PREVIOUS year's winner, the Red Sox. I mean, the game with AJ striking out in the ninth against the Angels? That should have been with the set, as that was a turning point for the Sox.
A must have for real WhiteSox fans! May 10, 2008 J. Quinn (Chicago, IL) Excellent collection, priceless. I recorded each game on DVD and edited out the commercials during this World series run but the box set is also a must have. After being a die hard Sox fan for 40 years watching them master this playoff run was a truly remarkable event. In regards to the quality of the disks the games are shown in their entirety with flawless DVD quality. Note that I use an up conversion DVD player. The key final games to the first two series are included and all of the games from the world series with the exception of the one we lost. The set also includes the parade. They should release another set with all of the games of the first two playoff rounds also. Great keepsake for Chicago WhiteSox fans!!!
You can put it on the board... February 13, 2008 JoshO (Saratoga, NY) If you're like me, you're a Right Sox fan living amongst the heathens in another major metropolitan city. So you scrimp for any sort of media coverage of your beloved Pale Hose, even during their legendary run to the World Series title. To commemorate the times that you sat on the couch, not daring to breathe while El Duque retired three Red Sox in a row with the based loaded or the 13th inning game-winning job, scoop up this box set. You won't have to deal with commercials or unbearable SportCenter "analysts", but you will still have to deal with the miserable Joe Buck (and for that I'm sorry). I prefer to watch these games while listening to the Grateful Dead, but that's just me.
Good stuff for Sox fans. A permanent souvenir. December 13, 2007 confusatron It's nice having these games on dvd, as we may never see our team reach the series again. Good quality.
